I would use the same two words to describe our wedding as I would to describe Amy: special and unique.
From the way my beautiful bride boogied her way down the aisle with her dad - while one of her own songs played out over the sound system - to the way she then performed a set with her dad at her own reception! Now how many people can say they have done either of those things?
I truly won the lottery with her.
The image of my wonderful wife (I still can't believe I get to call her that!!) sidestepping and jiving up the aisle with her dad will forever stay with me, because it was absolutely incredible.
Everything about the day was perfect - just like Amy.
There were so many beautiful personal touches scattered all over the whole day.
Even our wedding cake was made by a chap I have met at Headway - who suffered a stroke and can only use one of his hands. Plus to top it all off, we also got to enjoy Amy's cousin perform at the ceremony - who I'm sure she won't mind me describing her as a "star of the stage."
Amy also made the button holes, which all of the chaps wore!
To top it all off, we then got to arrive at our wedding reception at Poole Yacht Club by boat, after friends of Amy's family offered to transport us - it was like something out of a James Bond film because we truly felt like movie stars!
The only problem was I then struggled getting off of the boat itself and had to be helped off of it!
If all of that was then not enough, Amy recorded a CD especially for the day and gave one away to every person who attended as wedding favours.
Everyone we spoke to described it as "the best wedding they'd ever been to" which I cannot begin to describe how happy that made us feel!
The same place where a stunning white gold ring now rests - I am complete.
It is said in literary terms that autumn often signifies the death of something old, well after our incredible day which was shared with so many wonderful people from both of our lives, let's hope it has brought about the end of the sadder times we have experienced in the last few years and the future now looks incredibly beautiful - just like Amy did.
